It was noted that our bill from the Canterbury show is $769.76. Committee Reports: Show Committee: The show date for May 2004 was decided and it will be held on May 1, pending Canterbury being available. Celia Evans agreed to check on availability. It was noted that the date for the Tennessee show is pending, as they have another group who has first option for dates. The March 28 show date conflicts with the Live Oak CDE and so it was removed from the show schedule. The January show date is in conjunction with the Canterbury Pony Classic. A move was made to accept the meeting dates as noted (moved by L. McFarlin, 2nd by T. Gentzel, all in favor). Meeting Committee: The February 19 meeting date conflicts with the AGM in Las Vegas (Feb. 19-22), so was rescheduled for February 28 and will be held in conjunction with our awards banquet (moved by B. Lender, 2nd by J. Lante, and all in favor). Tentative meeting dates are as follows, all to be held at 7 pm: 2003: December 18 2004: February 28, April 15, June 17, August 19, October 21, December 16 It was moved that these be published as tentative meeting dates, to be confirmed one or two meetings in advance, per the by laws (moved by B. Year End Awards Committee: It was moved that we accept the Year End Award system, as it stands, with the exception of the following two changes: 1) "Fossils Over Fences" will be changed to "Adult Hunter" 2) Sections C & D Halter classes will be split. (moved by B. Lender, 2nd by C. Evans, all in favor) It was further moved that in addition to the above changes, that we also separate the Section C and D Halter points, for 2003 (moved by B. Lender, 2nd J. Lante, all in favor). There was a discussion regarding putting geldings in with the colts/stallions at our local bronze rated shows. No motion was made. The new Year End Awards Committee is formed, including Brenda Heberling, Thalia Gentzel and Clara Shepherd. Volunteers are still being accepted. History: Helen Miller requested that any pertinent information or photos be submitted for the historical book. Old Business: It was noted that we are in need of an updated membership directory. Timely publication of the newsletter was discussed along with effective notification of meetings. According to the by laws, the newsletter should be printed within 15 days of the previous meeting. A deadline for any information to be included will be announced at each meeting. A motion was made to have reminder post cards sent out two weeks before each meeting (moved by B. Lender, 2nd T. Gentzel, all in favor). Lynda Gillen Smith volunteered to send out the post cards. New Business: Upcoming events include the Annual Carriage Festival held at Gloria Austin's Continental Acres, on December 13, and the driving show associated with the Scottish Games in Ocala. We have since learned that the Scottish Games' driving show has been cancelled. A savings account to put funds away for a youth scholar ship was discussed, but no motion was made. Donation of money to support USDF Year End Award winners (for Welsh) was discussed, as currently these winners are only receiving a paper certificate. A motion was made to contribute $75 toward the purchase of significant Welsh and Half-Welsh Awards, for the USDF Year End Awards. The funds are to be sent to a designated awards representative. Celia Evans agreed to find out who the representative is. Individual contributions are also welcomed and encouraged. A motion was made to contact officials at the Live Oak CDE and offer an award for the High Point Registered Welsh or Half-Welsh with verifiable WPCSA or WPCSA recognized registration. Celia Evans agreed to contact Live Oak (moved by B. Lender, 2nd J. Lante, all in favor). Upcoming Meetings: Plans for upcoming meetings, were made. The next meeting was to be held at the home of Helen and Lee Miller, on December 18 (**please see note at beginning of newsletter, as this has been changed). The April 15, 2003 meeting will be held at Jodi and Russ Lante's home in Morriston and the June 17, 2003 meeting will be held at Celia and Randall Evans' home in Newbury.
